staff guideline/ sign up Empty
PostSubject: staff guideline/ sign up   staff guideline/ sign up EmptyWed Oct 13, 2021 8:01 pm

Perhaps you desire to lead the site forward, improve on stuff, clearify rules, or even design floors and monsters. Maybe You have a draft hand at coding, and wish to help, maybe you want to approve stuff. Perhaps you even desire to design new classes and subclasses?

What if I told you that is all possible and gladly accepted? The truth be told, help is appreciated and of course it is wonderful that some will be glad to assist. And like many staff on various rpg forums they have their own rules, and of course governing system, But here we will show you it all down to the I, and the T.

staff requirements

Now there is a difference between sites. As one person who has participated through many different systems, I will gladly share the important and small requirements to become a staff.

1.  understanding the rules.

There is a difference to reading a rule, and understanding how the rule works.   This system, while vast, does require a bit of understanding to both execute, but also once understood, one should be able to explain to even a new person That you can gain stats, and even create your own unique attacks/spells. To understand means that while it is important for people to "read the rules." it goes hand in hand to explain them too.

To be staff you may be asked where something is, or to clarify a rule. It will be a shame if you can only say the rule.

"ACC is an independent state that assists you in getting a clean hit."

and not add an example of.

" For example: an Acc of 10 reduces the enemy's EVR % by 5."

2. Transparency

You must be transparent, and even if approving a simple technique, or a spell this requires  you to be upfront in details and why a decision is made. Even to explain why a Staff discussion is made over something. Players  do not like being kept in the dark, and So it is important that while even events are planned, or even rewards given. If there is a complication. Be nice and upfront Because a problem left in the dark grows. Do not hide a reason, explain and of course be fair

3. communication

This goes with all requirements naturally, but is a big key still. Even if they lack discord, And doing DM's alone. You gotta be able to communicate. Like with any rules, respect is great! and yet it's earned, But communication goes both ways.  Be sure to communicate somehow.  As a silent Staff member is well  A silent staff member. If unable to answer, be honest and recommend someone who can like an admin.

4. Bringing something to the table.

Likewise this may seem simple, but it is essential to the growth of the site. You may offer relief, but being staff and not approving or doing much is moreless being unable to supply much. It is not just to abuse power or ban people from chat/site. because you felt like it. It means you still offer to help by approving characters,or topics, claims, even the rewards for certain codes. Still gotta bring something to the table. Even if working a new system into this system.

5. Be a leader

to be staff is to step up, and be willing to step up. It's one thing to simply follow, but another thing to lead, Show new and old people the works, and even grant tips and tricks. Did you find a new class combo? Perhaps you spot someone struggling to write a topic, or even see a new person alone in an area. be that light for them to feel special and show the best of the  site, and explain the worst.

6. Do not be bias, or encourage negative behaviors

This is tricky, but likewise you are a step above many things. It requires you to  realize that as staff you may deal with people you do not like, or had previously even had a bad civil encounter, or disagreements.  It is important to be able to approach each new situation as a new one. leave the past in the past, So you can Be the best staff member you can bee. After all, a bad app does not automatically make a person terrible. But further you too must hold yourself over favoritism, and other unsavory habits that build up over time. This takes discipline, and willingness to make a tough decision.

(note this is tricky, but real bad things that encroach on the general guidelines rules are  obviously a means to lead to removing said problem member.)

If you meet some of these requirements congratulations you have made the first step!. give yourself a pat on the back! and smile!. you have earned it!.

If not , then feel free to ask an admin like myself how you can help and we will gladly explain in DM, discord, or voice chat.

Roles

Now the roles of Staff are various. Simply because there are many things you can do here, But it's important that when a role is requested there may be additional requirements behind them. But of course these will all be explained.

universal role powers.

Despite your role. All staff have the ability to.

  1. Approve topics, and stat pages for rewards.
  2. roll staff specific dice
  3. Request an topic/ App to be edited
  4. Move Apps to appropriate area
  5. Move App/topics to the Archives

The roles are as follows.

Owner/ second in command/ admins

Obviously the owner maintains the site, and of course does various duties like updating the coding, and even of course does mod work too, while RPing. It is important to note banning and returning players must get the head nod from the owner, or the second in command before being allowed back on site/ discord.

Now some may worry over a power hungry owner/admins or such going off the wire and going nuts. This is not the case as to even get to this point one must be appointed and of course trusted to run the site smoothly. The owner and second in command must also grant, and remove appropriate permissions like modding privileges.

For an admin role one must have a firm grasp of the rules at hand and of course be ready to help.

Types of mods

There are several types of mods in question. Each one governs a certain segment to split workload.

creation mods

These govern the creation of the various apps, including characters, granted each creation mod covers a certain section. As such they give the nodd to your apps to go forward, and further observe the interaction of items, weapons, and abilities and supply new ones on occasions.

the segments are divided accordingly. Which includes quests and even houses, and defenses.

Item/ weapon/ armor mods: covers the creation, approval and editing  of items, weapons, and armors.

ability, skill, spell mods: covers the creations/editing  and approval of abilities, skills, and spells.

Quest mods: covers the creation, editing, and approval of Quests and missions.

combat mods

A combat mod is A mod mostly in part to oversee and control the combative portions of the site. This includes the creation of bosses on the floors, and even PVP oversight.

In this case since combat does occur they give rulings and must maintain a unbiased approach to things, they additionally do secondary calculations in case there are mistakes or otherwise errors in numbers. Note that despite this this is an optional role for most staff, but good to take up.

in the case of even members deciding to step up they too can  enjoy the benefits of being a temporary combat mod.

these two roles are.

Dungeon, mob, and boss controllers: covers controlling of NPC's and boss controlling.

pvp mod: takes the role of moderating, and ruling, as well as calculating totals for pvp.

design mods

the final group are known as design mods, perhaps you desire to create niche creatures or assist in designing various challenges for the players to attempt to take on. These are covered here.

A slight mix of the above bit of mods. There are many floors, and of course it calls to many unique creatures to inhabit them. For the gimmicky and thoes who may like to see species or floors in question. The main thing to realize is that while creating floors and creatures can be fun, it takes a bit of discipline too, especially with floors as it enables the flow of thoes ascending to higher levels.

creature, mods:  covers the creation/editing  of creatures,

floor mods: edits and maintains the rules of the various floors.

While each segment can be applied into if desired, it is important to realize that when applying for a segment you will be required to submit a creation as proof for understanding the system you are going into.

Example: you desire a creature mod, you will have to app an creature to show you can app creatures, the same for an ability mid, or quest mod.

The good thing is your creation will be happily added into the creations as well. So this is good.

PVP, dungeon, and NPC/boss controlling.:

Approval process

As promised, what is simply seen with the approval process with anything here.

Approval times

There is a small thing about approving stuff. Nothing should take longer than 1 week. Once more this hits the earlier requirements of transparency. it is important that an app is complex. It is important to simplify it.

If unable to do this,

best hand it to the owner, admin,or another mod of the same category, or possess the category's credentials.

Character apps

these are simple as they mostly require an description (image works, 1-3 paragraphs for

personality and history.

creation Apps

these are a tad bit harder, but it is important to keep it nice and easy.

Balance is subjective in many cases, but the rule of thumb is this.

1. nothing should encroach forbidden/limited rules territory.

2. Things should be appropriately numbered following appropriate calculations.

3. The range must be appropriate for the apped spell/ability level.

4. for a class/ subclass submissions up to 4 bonuses can be granted to the class. depending  on the bonuses granted. Statistical bonuses can be no higher than +15.

5. if a weapon, armor, or item is apped/reforged/ refined.  Does the character possess the appropriate level in respectfully, armor smithing, black smithings, or itemcrafting.

6. Are the statistical slots all used up and appropriate for the item/armor/weapons level? (if they remove a stat slot, then 1 ability can be added. *for epic or higher quality levels.*)

if this all checks out then the app is good to go to approve.

sign up

If of course read and willing, drop your character name here, and  add a bit about yourself, your experience in forum  rpg based stuff, and even desire to change or add here. and you will be contacted.

(so what happens when approved.)

The biggest thing to notice is that you will be requested to create 1 separate account. This will be your pure mod account which is useful to not muddle up your responses and mod work.

This separate account will be purely used for NPC control if you are up to it. Granted best to keep normal posting off this specific account.

discord color

ye it is inevitable that with site grouping, you will get the discord color swap as well. Good for identifying.

*what if i wanna quit?*

im sorry you have sold your soul to SAO REMASTERED, NO REFUNDS.

just kidding. If you are through and through there are no hard feelings, your efforts were great and appreciated, granted a whole hearted thank you.

Benifits

Staff work has been considered thankless, and exhausting. But to keep a site rolling its needed. However there are some benifits.

1. you help the site.

the number 1 bit is effort done together builds nations. so cheers.

2. learning the system further, and guiding it

likewise you get the full ride and experience to both help and smile knowing your work is making gears turn.

3. there are certain in play benifits.

Now this gets a bit off, but every 2 weeks there is a special code the staff can claim in the following. #THESAOORDER1

Not to lose the benifit it grants the following bonuses.

+5000 Cor
+2000 EXP
and your choice of 1weapon, armor piece.

every 2 months the quality and grade will increase by +1 up to epic.

note there are requirements to claim, but not too steep. each week.

1. App 1-3 apps
2. complete or do up to 250 WC in a topic.

keep it as noted on your own page which will be held in the staff bank forum. And all is good to go.
