There is 1 Unique Skill for each particular category of normal Skills (whether Combat or Support) which usually grants the Avatar with an ability or buff much greater than what is normally obtainable through natural Skill progression.

Obtaining expOn Sword Art Online, there are many different ways to obtain Experience to level up your skills. Namely, your Combat Skills will almost always advance before your Support Skills, this being because you often will kill more monsters than you would cooking a dish, and crafting items/weapons. But there are quests, events, and other things. That can net exp, and even levels.
The below chart shows the exp progression for each level in a skill.
Lv. 1: all newly aquired skills start out
Lv. 2 0/50 EXP
Lv. 3 0/100 EXP
Lv. 4 0/200 EXP
Lv. 5 0/400 EXP
Lv. 6 0/800 EXP
Lv. 7 0/1,600 EXP

method 1: TrainingYou can train your Combat and Support Skills in solo, or join training threads without having to engage any NPCs at all, though it is slightly more time-effective to raise your Combat Skill Level through the elimination of enemies. But useful for gaining exp in
You can only train 1 Skill per Training Thread, you must specify what you are training and your thread content must at least include some type of training in regards to the intended Skill you are trying to level up. Character Development (CD) in these types of topics is completely okay, and has no affect on the outcome of your skill progression in regards to your training topic. Furthermore, completing a training thread with another player grants you 50% more EXP for your intended skill.
Every 50 words is equal to 4 EXP gained per skill. Each skill has it's own individual experience pool (which you are responsible for keeping track of) and upon leveling up and updating your Avatar Sheet, will be checked and verified by a Dungeon Master/mod. topics can be up to any length in wc.
method 2: CombatThe traditional way of gaining experience via fighting NPC,or even other players in certain cases.
It is important to note that during combat, you will only receive an Experience Gain in the Combat Skill you used to land the killing blow on an NPC. This means that if you used a One-Handed Sword the entire fight, and then at the end punched the NPC in the face, the punch would be considered the killing blow and you would receive an Experience Gain in Martial Arts instead of One-Handed Swords.
Keep in mind that Experience Gained in total does not count toward a universal concurrent cap. This means that once you advance a level, your counter resets back to 0 until you reach the next EXP requirement for Skill Progression. The total EXP Requirement to get from Level 1 to Level 10 in a single Skill is 25,550.
Notice:
If you defeat an NPC that is 3 levels or more below your Avatar, the Experience Gain is halved.
Important Information:
Boss Experience Gain is doubled for any Level of NPC, and can be split between any of your currently equipped Skills. This is the only exception to the killing blow Experience Gain rule.
method 3 QuestsQuesting is another way to earn Experience and additionally offers exclusive rewards you can otherwise only get from Questing. Furthermore, all Experience Gains from Questing — unlike the Experience progression through Combat, can be split between any of your Combat Skills or Support Skills (similar to Boss Battle rewards). The only exception to this would be a Quest specifically designating receiving an Experience Gain to only one Skill, whether Combat or Support related.
Experience via combat in a quest.
In combat quests killing mob/creature grants exp the same was as killing normal Exp. These are often watched over by an signifigantly more powerful creature. Exp gained is through last hitting with the respective weapon/skill in combat.
Experience via support quest.
These are specifically listed, and will require perhaps combat, to pick up specific items dropped. The experience will go to the support skill when the quest is done. If combat commences exp gained from killing creatures is applied to the combat skill.
How do I Obtain a Quest?
Each Floor will have what is called a Quest Board to explore. Upon entry to the Floor, your Avatar may select as many of the available quests from the list as they would like. To complete the quest, you must post on the Quest Board with a link to your thread where the mission was completed - the title of which should reflect the Quest name. At this point a Dungeon Master will review the thread and approve it. You may then spend your Experience Gain and receive whatever rewards are available from completing it.
